HISTORY
March 7, 1961 INAUGURATION. Camp 14 inaugurated on March 13th, 1961
March 20, 1962 LANDMARK. Chain provided by Eastern Construction Company and has had honourable service in the construction of the Essex College Engineering Building.
March 12, 1964 LANDMARKS. A piece of rail, from the old Sandwich, Windsor, Amherstburg Railway Company (SW&A Railway) was formed into an anvil by the University shop. Donated by Warden Waddington.
January 27, 1969 USA Ritual. Ritual conducted at the University of Michigan on Thursday March 20, 1969.
March 12, 1986 False Application. It was decided to add to the application a statement to the effect that any applicant who knowingly makes a false application will not be considered for the Ritual until the applicant presents proof of professional registration with one of the provincial licensing bodies.
Ring Replacements. It was decided that there would be no ring replacements for a six (6) months period following the Ritual in which the candidate was obligated.
Procedure for the Ceremony. Applicants called up individually for the first time.
April 6, 1988 Criteria for Admission to Ceremony as a Candidate. The following, upon approval by the Wardens, are eligible to attend the Ritual held by Camp No. 14.
(a) Students in a Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB) accredited program who are currently registered for the courses required to fulfill the requirements for a degree, and if successfully completed, would allow the student to attend Spring Convocation.
(b) Engineers who have graduated from a CEAB accredited program.
(c) Engineers who are registered with one of the provincial licensing bodies; In Ontario, it is Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
April 2, 1999 VISA Graduate Students. A candidate must have graduated from a CEAB accredited program, be a P.Eng., or have written evidence that they are qualified to receive a license from a Provincial or Territorial licensing body.
July 31, 1996 Rings to a Third Party. Replacement rings will not be issued to a third party.
July 30, 1997 Exchange of Rings. It was agreed that the policy of Camp No. 14 not to exchange rings is maintained.
August 4, 1999 Ringing. The physical ringing be performed in the first instance by a Warden and in the second instance by a Parent or Guardian, provided the ringer had been obligated no less then 10 years prior, and subject to approval by the Wardens.
August 4, 1999 Landmarks. The hammer was cast by Scott Manser of the Ford Casting Plant. The material used in the casting of the hammer is melted lacing bars from the Ambassador Bridge. David Batten and Ken Cartier provided the removed bridge material.
January 1, XXX New Landmark, New Building, COVID for historical purposes. First time ever done virtually.
